Das Programm · a season of twelve concerts

No pictures. Everything on these pages is type.

Müller-Brockmann's most famous work was concert typography: the musica viva posters for Zurich, pure type on a grid, blue, green and white (his own colour note, p.111). This is a season programme in that spirit — A5, Helvetica, twelve concerts of real and resolutely secular works, and each concert's title placement is drawn by the seed from the canonical variants Müller-Brockmann catalogues on pp.46–47: same size set off by white space, bold over the text, a larger face, a still larger face, the italic subtitle, the title directly on the text, the title over a rule. Reroll the season and every concert chooses again.

The programme is a fiction; the works are real. Titles hold the register: a 15pt title stands on two body lines, a 26pt title on three, and the works list below never leaves the lattice.
